People Who Are Addicted To Music
By Jocelyn Vena
Can’t wait until June 18 to hear more from Hunter Hayes‘ Encore album? Well, the country music heartthrob has got your back. The CMT Music Awards performer is giving his Hayniacs the chance to download his twangy love song, “Light Me Up,” weeks before the album hits retailers.
On the summery tune, Hayes sings about finding his one true love after some heartbreak. It’s the kind of romance that sparks all kinds of metaphors, like on the chorus: “You light me up/ Like the fireworks flying on the Fourth of July/ You light me up/ Like the sunshine blazing in the summertime/ Every time you light me up.”
For more information on the free download, fans can head over HunterHayes.CMT.com. It’s the latest listen from the deluxe re-release of his self-titled debut album, which spawned his breakthrough hit “Wanted.” On Wednesday night, the 21-year-old singer performed his latest single, “I Want Crazy,” at the 2013 CMT Music Awards.
June 18 is a big release day for the music industry. Hayes will face off against such hip-hop heavyweights as Mac Miller, J. Cole and Kanye West. For the record, Mac has his money on Hayes to top the charts that week. The same day he drops Encore, Hayes will headline New York’s Webster Hall for a sold-out show as part of MTV’s Artist to Watch series, which will stream live on MTV.com and CMT.com.
Then, later this year, Hayes will headline the 12th annual CMT on Tour, billed as the Let’s Be Crazy Tour. It all kicks off October 10 in Knoxville, Tennessee, with dates slated through December. “It’s gonna be a great summer, great fall. We’ve got a massive show planned for the fall. So, it’s gonna be crazy, appropriately,” he shared earlier this week about the jaunt.
