AFI Signs With Republic, New Album Due in Fall

California punk band AFI has signed with Republic Records and will release its ninth studio album this fall via the Universal label.

The album, a follow-up to 2009’s “Crash Love,” was produced by Gil Norton at East West Studios in Los Angeles and mixed by Andrew Scheps.

“We are thrilled to be joining the Republic family,” lead singer Davey Havok said in a press release. “We’ve spent over two years realizing this album and could not be more excited to share it with all.”

The band has released several mysterious teaser videos over the past few months and unveiled a new clip yesterday. The five videos, directed by Surround, can be viewed on AFI’s Website.

AFI, which stands for A Fire Inside, will return to the stage with performances at the Riot Fest & Carnival in Chicago on September 13-15 and at the Riot Fest and Sideshow in Denver on September 21-22. The band plans to announce details of a full headlining tour shortly.

“Crash Love,” which was released by Interscope, bowed at No. 12 on the Billboard 200. A title and official release date for the new album have not yet been announced.
